Dolly Parton was born in Locust Ridge, Tennessee on 19 January 1946. Today, she is popular and beloved American country singer, songwriter and actress. But she gradually become really best known due to her great hit "I will always love you". Dolly began writing and performing songs still as a girl. Her first record appeared early in 1960. Shortly after that, she moved to Nashville, and in 1967 published her first complete album "Hello, I am Dolly" and began working on the famous television show of Porter Wagoner. Parton and Wagoner had a string of real hits as a duo throughout the 60s and 70s, but Parton soon became internationally famous as a solo artist for such records as "Jolene", and of course, "I will always love you". Thus, Dolly has won every major music award, with songs ranging from pop and contemporary country to traditional country and bluegrass. Popular for her business savvy, she also owns and operates Dollywood - an interesting theme park in Tennessee with retail shops and entertainment. Dolly Parton entered the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999 and received the Kennedy Center Honour for her entire artistic achievements in 2006. "I will always love you" was undoubtedly her biggest hit since 1973. Parton recorded a new version of it in 1982 and it became a hit again. The song was an even more beloved in 1992 when it was recorded by Whitney Houston, too. Parton was again nominated for an Oscar in 2006, for the melody "Travellin through" from the 2005 movie "Transamerica".
