In August 2002, after months of recording the entire compilation, he played at the MTV Video Music Awards for 2002, where he presented his first single, "Like I love you", a fresh dance track produced by "The Neptunes". This song reached number eleven on the Billboard Hot 100. Shortly after that, Justin Timberlake released his debut solo album, "Justified", on 5 November 2002. The album was also a success, despite selling considerably less than previous group music efforts. It started at number two on the Billboard 200 album chart, selling 439,000 copies only in its first week of release. It eventually went on to sell over 3 million copies in the United States and over 7 million copies through the rest part of the world music market. The compilation contained several tracks which were initially created to be part of the "Invincible" album of Michael Jackson but did not actually enter it to the final selection of songs.
