Linkin Park is a popular American rock band from Agoura Hills, California. They achieved mainstream success in 2000 with their debut album, "Hybrid theory", which has since sold fifteen million copies all over the world. The following studio album of the band, "Meteora" also win a great success, topping the Billboard charts for 200 best albums all the time in 2003. Originally consisting of three close high school friends from Agoura High School, the official foundation of the group was anchored by Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, and Rob Bourdon. After graduating from high school, these friends and former classmates gradually began to take their musical interests more seriously, recruiting Joe Hahn, Dave "Phoenix" Farrell, and Mark Wakefield to perform in their band, then called "Xero". Although quite limited in resources, the group began recording and producing songs within own make-shift bedroom studio of their frontman in 1996. They have recalled Linikin Park since the spring of 1999 and have released "Hybrid Theory" on October 24, 2000. The album, which represented nearly half from the worth of the entire work of this band, was edited and polished by music producer Don Gilmore. "Hybrid Theory" was well received by music fans and the band sold more than 4,8 million records during its debut year, while singles such as "Crawling" and "One step closer" established themselves as staples among alternative rock radio playlists during the same year. Additionally, other hits from the same album were used as basic soundtracks in different movies such as "Dracula 2000", "Little Nicky", and "Valentine". "Hybrid Theory" also won three Grammy Awards, including best new artist, best rock album, and best hard rock performance for "Crawling". On the other hand, MTV also awarded the band with their "Best Rock Video" and "Best Direction" awards for "In the end".
