Nelly Kim Furtado was (born in Canada on 2 December 1978. Nowadays, she is undoubtedly a famous Juno Award-winning singer, songwriter, record producer, and instrumentalist. Nelly Furtado was born in Victoria, British Columbia in the family of Portuguese immigrants from Azores, Maria Manuela and António José Furtado. She began playing instruments at the age of nine, taking lessons in trombone, ukulele and, in later years, the guitar and keyboard. At the age of twelve, Nelly already began writing songs, and as a teenager, she performed in a Portuguese marching band. Furtado became popular in 2000 with the appearing of her debut album "Whoa, Nelly", which consisted her breakthrough Grammy Award-winning single "I am like a bird". After becoming a mother and after publishing the less commercially successful "Folklore" in 2003, she returned on the global music scene in 2006 with the recording of "Loose" and its real hit singles "Promiscuous", "Maneater", "Say it right", and "All good things come to an end". Since then, Furtado has sold over fifteen million albums all over the world. She is well-known today for experimenting with different instruments, sounds, genres, languages, and nasal vocal styles. This diversity in her performing style has been influenced by her wide-ranging musical taste and her interest in different cultures. Furtado continued her effective collaboration with Eaton and West, who have co-produced her debut album, "Whoa, Nelly", from October 2000. Shortly after that, she accompanied the Burn in their Spotlight tour and also appeared on "Area - one tour" of Moby. Even her first album was an international success, supported by three great hits, "I am like a bird", "Turn off the light", and "On the radio - remember the days". It has won four Grammy nominations in 2002, and her debut single was awarded for "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance".
