Rednex Ringtones for Mobile Phones
Rednex is a Swedish pop band that is already internationally popular and beloved with their song "Cotton Eye Joe" in 1994. The name of this group is the slang form for the word "rednecks". It is created by the Swedish producers Janne Ericsson, Örjan Öberg, Pat Reiniz and Brian Reddyb who decided to try mixing country music with eurodance. Initially, they tended to re-edit the traditional folk song, "Cotton-Eyed Joe", into a new dance hit and it actually appeared in 1994, immediately with a huge success all over the world. Rednex recorded most of their songs with studio musicians, and a group of pretended redneck role players to represent the band were put together. Over the years, many of these initial performers have come and gone, and in 2006, for example, there have been eleven different actors for their videos. Though these role players in the beginning were not involved in the actual music creation, they soon become responsible for the complete image of Rednex and thus gradually occurred to be considered just as much part of the group as the actual musicians. Since 2005 these cartoon players began to play the music themselves as well to take over all vocal-parts and the entire music-production. Shortly after their successful debut, another interesting compilation, called "Sex and violins" followed the initial success of Rednex, and the band soon went on to score other hits in Europe - notably the joyful "Old pop in an oak" and the ballad "Wish you were here". However, "Cotton Eye Joe" remains their only American success until 2006 - number twenty-five on the Billboard Charts for March 1995. The third album of Rednex, named "Farmout" appeared in 2000 and again found much acclaims in Europe. Their song "Spirit of the hawk" became the most successful track in it, finding particular popularity in Germany. In 2003, appeared another hits compilation, entitled "The best of the West", also popular as "Cotton Eyed Joe" in some regions. In 2007 Rednex would take part in the Romanian national final in the preselection for Eurovision, together with the Romanian pop group Ro-Mania. The song which will be performed there is "Well-o-Wee", but they were disqualified since the judges considered that several parts of this song had been published and performed as early as 2001.
