The Proclaimers Ringtones
The Proclaimers is a quite popular Scottish band, composed of identical twins Charlie and Craig Reid. They are best-known for their singles - "Letter from America" and "I am gonna be - 500 miles", which became the theme melody to the film "Benny and Joon" from 1993, and to the special charity event "The Terry fox run". Nowadays, The Proclaimers were immediately compared to the Everly Brothers due to their deep melodic compositions. If we consider their energetic, melodic folk rock hits, this comparison made enough sense, even though the Proclaimers did not really sound like the Everlys. Instead, this group was a post-punk pop duo, aggressively displaying their thick accents on sweet, infectiously melodic songs about love, politics, and life in Scotland. After their first two compilations in the late 80s - "This is the story" in 1987 and "Sunshine on leith" from 1988, the band disappeared for several years, because of different personal problems and severe artistic block. When their real hit from 1988 - "I am gonna be - 500 miles" was used in the movie "Benny and Joon" from 1993, this duo at last began to receive massive radio presence in America, sending them into the Top Ten in the United States, as well as the rest of the world - this was their first taste of the real great success. Fortunately, The Proclaimers were close to complete their third compilation at the same time, entitled "Hit the highway", leaving them in a quite convenient position to capitalize on their success. Their single "Let us get married" received little attention, and the band almost disappeared again. Later, The Proclaimers made various contributions to several movie soundtracks - "Dumb and dumber" and "Bottle rocket" during the latter part of the decade. Nowadays, they already concluded a new American deal with "Nettwerk, and Persevere" in 2001, and this marked their fourth compilation. The fifth collection of this band was called "Born innocent" and appeared on their own imprint "Persevere" in 2003. It was soon followed by "Restless soul" from 2005.
