Tool Ringtones for Mobile Phones
Tool is an American rock band, founded in 1990 in Los Angeles, California. Its main members are drummer Danny Carey, bassist Justin Chancellor, guitarist Adam Jones, and singer Maynard James Keenan. This band received immediate recognition even for its first commercial appearing on the global music market, named "Opiate" from 1992. This six-song compilation included the "hardest sounding" singles the band had written to that point, and among them were "Hush" and "Opiate". The music clip for "Hush" presented the band members appearing naked and their mouths covered by duct tape, symbolically protesting censorship. Shortly afterwards, Tool were in speed to create their first full-length album, named "Undertow" from 1993, because many of its songs had already been written at the time "Opiate" appeared on the market. Later, they were hired to play the second stage at "Lollapalooza" in 1993, and thus, they attracted great attention. The band was quickly moved to the main stage due to their creative "presence, prowess and power". This helped to make greater the popularity of "Undertow" - later, this compilation was certified gold by the RIAA. Emerging with a "slam and bang" heavy metal sound on their first official performing during a time when heavy metal was dominated by thrash metal, they were later seen at the top of the alternative metal movement, when they published their second full length studio album "Ænima" in 1996. Today, after an ongoing evolution of their sound to a more progressive influenced songwriting on "Lateralus" from 2001 and their latest real hit compilation "10 000 days" in 2006 their music was considered as progressive rock. The sound of this group is subjected to many favourable comparisons - therefore, it is difficult to pinpoint a single exact genre. This results in an ambivalent relationship between the band and the entire music industry, adding the exceptionally long or complex releases, controversial quite abstract lyrics, unorthodox music clips that have resulted in censorship, and the complete ongoing struggle of this band for privacy.
