Willie Nelson was born in Texas on 30 April 1933 to parents Ira and Myrle Nelson. As a child, Willie and his sister Bobbie Lee Nelson were raised mainly by their paternal grandparents. Their first musical experiences came from the mail-order courses which their grandparents taught to them. In addition to this, Willie Nelson received his first guitar at age six. In 1973 as his popularity grew, when he started an Independence Day picnic that has grown and is still alive tradition today. In 1975, one of his almost nameless albums, "Red headed stranger", was originally introduced to the most of the local music charts. At the same time, he played roles in several films, including "Red headed stranger", "Thief", "Honeysuckle rose", "Barbarosa", "Pair of aces", "Songwriter", "Electric horseman", "Stagecoach", and many more. Willie Nelson has also done some television acting and appearances. His most recent acting work includes a reoccurring character in "Doctor Quinn, medicine woman", a guest appearance on "Nash Bridges", and a new role in "Wag the dog" from 1997. In the beginning of the eighties, Nelson began preforming duets with quite diverse talents as Bob Dylan, Dolly Parton, Merle Haggard, Neil Young, and others. Unfortunately, his success and popularity has withheld strongly into the 90s. In 1993, his song from 1983 "On the road again" was used in the critically acclaimed soundtrack to the movie "Forrest Gump". In this period also appeared many great Nelson albums, for example, "Across the borderline", "Moonlight becomes you", and "Just one love".
